Holeeee shmoleyyy... I wanna build one of those so bad!!
Though, to be honest, I think the lack of privacy with projecting onto walls or things around you is something that needs to be gotten around. I hope someone figures out how to do a light-weight wearable heads-up display soon. I'd happily wear glasses if it meant I could see my portable computer's display (or say, my iphone's display) without having to pull my phone out of my pocket.
This issue aside, Mistry has come up with some amazing tech and it works with stuff most of us have laying around. I've got an old webcam, some old mice and a few other things. I hope he open-sources this stuff soon.
I think it's because it's the anti-iPhone. It's tough, simple, has no camera, no multimedia capabilities, has a 2-color (eInk) display, super-cheap (newegg.com has it for $23 shipped) and it's GSM (aka uses SIM cards). Like the OLPC XO laptop, it was designed for developing nations, but ends up being so cheap and so solid, I wouldn't mind having one myself.
I'm a living paradox. I love super-advanced tech, but super-simple, low-budget tech simultaneously enthuses me.
I'm strange. Hit that link to read more about the Motofone F3.
Hey, neat. Those guys in Iran who risked their lives protesting the election, six months ago, are being sentenced to both 15 year sentences and to death.
Yeah... 15 years for marching. Death if the Iranian government decides you were part of a terrorist or armed opposition group. I'm sure the process of determining what that even means is perfectly fair and accurate (...or not).
I think it's time for the Iranian people to do something about this kind of shit. I seriously doubt the US would be able to support a real revolution, but the people of Iran should do something to stop this kind of oppression. I don't know anything about Islam, but surely the right to march down the street, holding a sign, should be legal.
The math is totally in their favor--the country is largely made up of younger people and these are the kinds of folks being sent up the river. The youth is the majority in Iran. If the government can't control them, they have nothing.
On a side note, when the US presidency was stolen, we didn't do crap and there's no way any of us would have gone to jail let alone be sentenced to death. At least those Iranians can see clearly what they are fighting for. I just hope this inspires folks over there to keep fighting.
Oh and don't slam me for using AJE as a source when Google News still includes "Fox News" as a legit news source. :P
Though looking at the title of this lesson and the fact that "My Japanese Coach" is a cute Japanese cartoon woman you might think I learned more than words for emotions like "happy" and "sad"... It's definitely not that kind of game... :(
I could have taken a lot more--EP was the easiest non-Mac OS I've installed but installing didn't go 100% smoothly (as a couple of the pics show). But in the end I got it running just fine and actually love it. Thanks to the Easy Peasy folks for putting this thing together!
Took these last Tuesday at the TRU in NYC. They are of the two sets from Lego's Architecture line (Lego for adults!) and one pic of the to- scale Lego Empire State Building and another pic of my buddy, Stew, pointing to where his office is.
