Seriously... we need to redefine the two "sides" from "right and left" to "educated and ignorant". Our country and the national dialogue are suffering dramatically thanks to the "liberal" urge to give everyone a right to their take on things (even if their take is based on zero facts). Global Warming has caused dramatic and noticeable Climate Change and now we are unprepared because the "right" (or "ignorant," in this case) leaders in Washington have dragged their feet, denying the science.
The ignorant wing also wants to change the laws governing women's rights. Todd Akin's ignorant comments reflect not only his ignorance, but his interest in ignoring the facts that women are full-fledged people, with the same human rights as men.
Don't think this is just a Republican thing. Democrats, like Obama, like to ignore facts and pretend Al Qaeda is an actual threat to America. Your odds of getting killed walking across the street are infinitely higher than your odds of being killed by a terrorist, yet Obama is waging an unmanned-drone war to kill off these guys who are no threat to us.
The ignorant wing thinks big business should be protected so it can pollute the environment, poison its customers, drill the oil and the life out of the environment, and buy its way out of criminal charges. Meanwhile, the ignorant wing widdles away the rights of unions, the individual, and cuts funding to education, arts and even health programs.
It's not conservative to ignore reality. It's ignorant.
Likewise, it's not liberal to ignore statistics that don't match your world view. It's ignorant.
It's time we educated "elites" (you know, those of us who like facts and not just emotions and opinions) took control of this country and started governing it based on facts and reality instead of wishful thinking and emotions like fear and urges for revenge.
Are you a member of the Ignorant Party? You can quit it easily simply by facing facts.
