This was a surprise--earlier tonight I swung by my Soup (http://thepete.soup.io) where I discovered that it was displaying my eBay auctions in this cool flash window. Now, I'm not a big fan of flash sites, however, this flash interface seemed surprisingly well designed. After clicking on the "copy this widget" text, I was brought to http://togo.ebay.com. They must have some lousy marketers over there because I did not know this kind of widget existed. It turns out that they also have widgets for single items, searches, seller's stores and just sellers. Have a look at mine:
Pretty cool little gizmo, huh? I've added a miniaturized version of this widget to the top of my sidebar. I'm wondering if it's not too annoying there. Anyway, I dig it for now. We'll see how it goes. Feel free to have a look at what I'm selling and bid if you want. ^_^
So, in the end, flash is more about whether it's used well by the designer. Most of the time I don't think it is. However, eBay (amazingly enough) is, in my opinion, using it right. Go figure! Orignal From: EBay Gets All Flash On Our Asses
