WAHOO! That's free wifi T-Mobile HotSpot use for me for a year! Why? Because I'm getting me one of those XO laptops through the Buy One, Give One program that you can take part in at XOgiving.org. Back in October I blogged on the OLPC program that allows you to buy an XO laptop for $400 and in the process you also pay for an XO to go to a poor kid in a third world country.
To be extra crystal clear, T-Mobile (my mobile phone carrier of choice) is offering a free year of their wifi HotSpot service when you buy an XO lappie through the Buy One, Give One program at XOgiving.org. TheWife pointed out, the minute I told her about this deal, that this offer almost pays for the laptops since T-Mo's HotSpot service usually runs you around $20 a month and can run you as much as $40, depending on the plan you choose. So, this has gotten me even more excited to pick up one of these green-and-white marvels.
FYI, T-Mobile HotSpot service is available at the following places:
Starbucks
Borders
FedEx Kinko's
Red Roof Inns
Hyatt Hotels
many airports
some Amtrak trains
Hell, just the Starbucks alone should be impressive enough.
So, what are you waiting for?
The same thing I am--November 12, 2007--when you and I, both, can place our orders for the XO laptop from the One Laptop Per Child non-profit which was established to create a laptop that was so cheap third world countries could afford to buy One Laptop Per Child in their country.
