It seems like Dennis Kucinich brought forward a resolution to impeach Cheney and... and... well, this is where it gets really confusing. I'll let a cutting from a November 7, 2007 AP.org article available at Chron.com try to explain how Republicans voted in favor of a debate on Cheney's impeachment:
Republicans, changing course midway through a vote, tried to force Democrats into a debate on the resolution sponsored by long-shot presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.
The anti-war Ohio Democrat's resolution accuses Cheney of purposely leading the country into war against Iraq.
The GOP tactics reversed what had been expected to be an overwhelming vote to table, or kill, the resolution.
Midway through the vote, with instructions from the GOP leadership, Republicans one by one changed their votes from yes — to kill the resolution — to no, trying to force the chamber into a debate and an up-or-down vote on the proposal.
The Houston-area delegation split, with Republicans John Culberson of Houston, Michael McCaul of Austin and Ted Poe of Humble heeding the request to keep the motion alive to embarrass the Democrats.
We are SO still on Bizarro World! So, let me get this straight:
1) Kucinich, an elfish kind of guy who is married to a smoking hot redhead, decides to propose that impeachment procedings begin for Dick Cheney.
2) Republicans decide to vote FOR a debate instead of against the resolution because it will embarrass democrats.
3) According to a November 7, 2007 article from LATimes.com, the measure to impeach Cheney is still alive but barely, having been shelved for now.
My neck hurts from shaking my head so much. Here's a brilliant cutting from the above-linked LA Times article:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) and her lieutenants maneuvered to avoid a bruising floor fight. Such a clash would have forced Democrats to choose between their liberal base, which might cheer a Cheney impeachment, and a broader electorate, which might view the resolution as a partisan game in a time of war.
This is SO the media bullshitting--the "broader electorate" are still fucking morons who think the war was anything other than an intentional clusterfuck? Who are these fucktards?? 4000+ GIs dead and untold thousands of Iraqi coils sluffed off with no WMD or Osama discovered and there are STILL people who believe that Cheney and Bush are the good guys?
IS ANYONE STILL THAT STUPID?
WHY IS THE LA TIMES SHOVELING THIS CRAP LIKE IT'S TRUE?
Take a poll and you'll see just how many Americans trust Bush and Co. Then Congress will know what to do with those impeachment papers--vote for them.
These democrat morons think us voting them into power means we just want them to have control.
NO. WE WANT YOU TO DO YOUR JOBS AND NAIL BUSH AND CHENEY TO THE WALL. THEY ARE SOCIOPATHIC, PSYCHOPATHIC, TORTURER/KILLERS AND NEED TO BE STOPPED!
It's fun when the leaders of the most powerful country in the world don't follow the laws of their own country!!
It makes me really wonder why us poor folks don't start knocking over convenience stores the way the Bushites knocked over Iraq.
OK, I'm going to bed...
Oh wait, one last thing:
IMPEACH THEM! IMPEACH THEM ALL!!
