I FINISHED MY NOVEL!!

Ahhhhhhh!!!



On October 17, 1997 at 3:10PM, I saved the first few pages of my first ever attempted novel. At 6:33AM, May 6, 2008 (today), I saved the completed, 540-page, first draft of my first ever attempted novel. I AM DONE!!!



Yep--it's taken me almost 11 years to finished my first novel. :) Ironically, I've finished eight other novels in the meantime. :(



It feels amazing and very strange to have this story finally out of my head. I'm dreading the second draft, as all of the new stuff I've done with it since stopping work on it back in 2000, or so, was done with the NaNoWriMo mentality: quantity over quality.



I know the story is good, but I didn't exactly stop to make sure it was well written, had proper grammar, or even if it made sense! But hey, I know the story elements are there and that's the most important part of a first draft.



So, I'm leaving for New York on Sunday and I felt like since I got this book started out here, it would be pretty sad if I didn't finish it out here, too. Then, my dad and step-mom are showing up tomorrow--er--today and so I felt like I wasn't going to be able to get much creative writing done once they got here, so last night at around 11pm I sat down and started writing and didn't stop until I was done.



Sure, I took breaks, hit the toilet, messed with the cats, but I went from page 512 to 540 in about seven hours. And now I need to crash, so I can get at least a few hours sleep before my west-coast-'rents get here around 2pm.



I FINISHED!! AAAAAAA!!!
