So, I was trying to find out about the surprise at the end of the credits of "Iron Man". I came across a post at Slashfilm.com that explained it all (here: http://www.slashfilm.com/…ars-after/ ). I had never been to Slashfilm, so I thought I'd look around a bit. After just a few minutes I found this post:
http://www.slashfilm.com/…-watchmen/
To save you from an extra click, it's a post about this guy who drew the Peanuts as the characters from the brilliant graphic novel "The Watchmen" (said drawing is NOT pictured above). This seemed to be a not-so-original idea to me--in fact I could have sworn someone had done the exact joke years ago. I suddenly had an image of the art in my head and I remembered the phrase "Who Watches the Watchnuts?" and quickly googled it. I found nothing but posts about this new guy's art and how funny and/or clever it was.
Then I remembered that I had taped it into one of my sketch books. I grabbed one of my earlier books and started flipping through it. Turns out it was in that first sketch book I had picked up--it was a book from 1990. I think I found it in a copy of Starlog magazine and cut it out because it made me laugh my ass off.
Not to try to deflate this new guy's sails, but I thought people should see that this was done nearly twenty years ago.
There's something way more funny about Snoopy being the Comedian, anyway.
