THE DECIDER? TRY THE DICTATOR

Holy crap--take a look at the caption of this screencap I grabbed off of CNN yesterday. When someone in Bush's position says that Congress doesn't have a say he is now officially a dictator. Anyone who doesn't agree with this is out of touch with reality. See, there's a little something called "checks and balances" where no one branch of government can totally get away with anything. Each branch has a way to exercise some control over any other branch. When anyone in any branch says that another branch's opinion doesn't matter, that's a dictator. "I'm going to do X--it doesn't matter what Congress thinks." Regardless of what "X" is stating that you're going to do it anyway is quite literally dictating what you will do. Hence the term: "dictator." If the above isn't enough to convince you we're living in a dictatorship, check this cutting from [http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/14/washington/14spy.html?ei=5065&en=d84fecd8f4b5e4cf&ex=1169355600&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print|a January 14, 2007 article] at NYTimes.com that talks about more surveillance of American citizens by their government:
The Pentagon has been using a little-known power to obtain banking and credit records of hundreds of Americans and others suspected of terrorism or espionage inside the United States, part of an aggressive expansion by the military into domestic intelligence gathering. ... Banks, credit card companies and other financial institutions receiving the letters usually have turned over documents voluntarily, allowing investigators to examine the financial assets and transactions of American military personnel and civilians, officials say.
So, email, phone calls, and now even more banking records than before, apparently. You can read more about it in [http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/13/pentagon.bank.records.ap/index.html|this January 13, 2007 article at CNN.com]. This was dictatorship looks like, folks! I don't know what else to say about it. When a leader can do whatever he wants (sending troops against the will of Congress, dig into your previously private personal information, etc) without any sort of oversight, there's really nothing else to call it.
