Tribes of Amazon Find an Ally Out of ‘Avatar’

The snake kills by squeezing very slowly,” Mr. Cameron said to more than 70 indigenous people, some holding spears and bows and arrows, under a tree here along the Xingu River. “This is how the civilized world slowly, slowly pushes into the forest and takes away the world that used to be,” he added.
This is so cool--not as cool as when Bill Gates decided to quit Microsoft and focus on his charity work--but still pretty cool. It's obvious from the movie "Avatar" that Cameron is a liberal hippie-type (in a good way), but it's actually pretty damn inspiring to see him put his money where his mouth is and get vocal about his views, even visiting places on Earth that face the same problems as depicted in his latest film.
To be perfectly honest, while I didn't care for "Avatar," I found the soul of it pretty inspirational--in fact, it inspired me to write my own screenplay about indigenous rights. I'm working on it right now and hope to have it done by the end of the month.
So, kick-ass, Jim Cameron!! You rock!! Keep going, man!!
